Start confused!!!
Today I want to urge you to start anything without knowing how to get to the end, what matters most is the humble beginnings because most times the thought of the how to reach an end also comes with all the unpredictable challenges, risks and hurdles it takes to get there which deters most people including myself from starting.
Hence, start with knowing only the beginning. This entails gathering all your need to begin and not necessarily stressed about what you need to finish, somehow, they come as you begin your journey. Have a mental picture, a sketch or an arbitrary note of what you want the end to look like; do not attempt to know how you get there, life has a way of presenting itself to you.
Tom Bodett once said “In school, you’re taught a lesson and then given a test. In life, you’re given a test that teaches you a lesson.” What do think happens if we attempt an exam or test without taking a lesson or studying for it, we would most likely fail that test. Well this is how life is; the good thing about failure is the opportunity to learn from it, and take another test using our experience to better ourselves and the outcome of our new test. Ever heard the saying “experience is the best teacher”? At the end we would only regret the shots we did not take, not the ones we took.
I remember having an idea I did not take off with for whatever reason; well guess what the ones that were brave enough to start that idea few are probably worth millions of dollars today. Do I regret not summoning the courage to take my shot at the idea, hit or miss? Of course, I did and still do, but I learnt from it in a good way. It is more like a motivation these days. Wayne Gretzky once said, “You miss 100% percent of the chances you do not take”. I beg you, to take a shot.
Remember the secret is to start small, no matter how small and it is perfectly okay to start confused. You will be surprised at how things become clearer as you proceed. I still don’t have all the answers, why don’t you give it a try. I will be happy to hear you explain this unusual clarity to me. Start confused today!
